★Description

Denavir (penciclovir) cream is a medication used to treat cold sores, also known as herpes labialis. Denavir cold sore treatment works by preventing the function of an enzyme critical for viral replication. When herpes simplex virus (HSV) infects a cell, it causes the cells to manufacture specialized proteins that help the virus replicate, including HSV polymerase. Denavir cold sore treatment prevents the function of HSV polymerase and subsequent viral replication.

★Cold sores (herpes labialis) are a type of blister caused by HSV, which often develop on the lips and can spread to the mouth and the surrounding skin. Cold sores typically resolve on their own, but Denavir cold sore treatment can speed up the healing process.

★Directions

Denavir cold sore treatment should be applied to each affected cold sore every 2 hours while awake for 4 days.

★Ingredients

The active ingredient in Denavir cold sore treatment is penciclovir.

Inactive ingredients include ceteth-20, cetostearyl alcohol, mineral oil, propylene glycol, petrolatum, and water.

★Cautions

Denavir cold sore treatment should only be applied to cold sores on the mouth or face. The cream should not be applied to mucous membranes like the inside of the mouth, ears, or eyes.
